EVO Booking : HDF5 .NET Virtual Discussion
April 14, 2011 1:00pm CDT
Dear HDF5DotNet users, judging from recent forum postings and as we're about to release a new version of the HDF5DotNet wrapper (HDF5's .NET APIs), we would like to use the opportunity to solicit input and participation for the continued development of the wrapper.
Together with you, we would like to identify and agree on how to address issues with the current version of the wrapper, and set some development milestones for turning the wrapper into a high-quality piece of software. At least initially, we would like to use a more interactive forum for discussion and propose to organize a virtual meeting on EVO on Thursday, April 14 at 1:00pm CDT. There's some flexibility in the date/time and please respond and suggest alternatives if you would like to participate.
See the bulletin on the EVO Booking for further information. If you're unable to use the EVO (Java-based) software, there's a dial-in capability and the phone numbers are listed below. There's also an EVO-Skype bridge which lets you join in from Skype.
The booking is for 12:30pm CDT to let people call in early and test their gear. To reduce echo and background noise, please use headsets. For more information on EVO please take a look at the Quick Start guide.

HDF and HDF EOS Workshop XIV
September 28-30, 2010
The fourteenth annual HDF and HDF-EOS Workshop has been scheduled for September 28th-30th, 2010. This workshop will be held in the home city of The HDF Group, and offers a unique opportunity to work directly with developers and maintainers of HDF. The theme of the Workshop is Improving workflows that use HDF and HDF-EOS data. Please see the workshop web site for more details.
HDF5 Tutorial @ LCI Conference
March 8, 2010
The tutorial, Modeling and Visualizing Big and Complex Data: A Tutorial on HDF5 and an Extended Example Based on F5, will be presented in Pittsburgh at the 11th LCI International Conference on High-Performance Clustered Computing on March 8, 2010.
HDF5 as hyperspectral data analysis format
January 11 - 13, 2010
There will be a workshop at ESRF in Grenoble on January 11-13, 2010, to discuss the use of HDF5 as a hyperspectral data analysis format.
The goals of this workshop are to:
- Bring together scientists and software developers to find solutions to data format issues from the data analysis point of view,
- Put in common different algorithms for analyzing hyper-spectral data to see how they could be extended to different techniques,
- Find the most suitable ways to exchange data based on the type of analysis to be performed,
- Do hands-on coding for the implementation and/or testing of discussed approaches, ranging from the data format to the analysis algorithms.
The aim of the workshop is not to define how data should be stored at acquisition time or for long-term archival. However, there are several overlapping issues and at least the first morning of the workshop will most likely be dedicated to present and discuss HDF5 and NeXus.
Participants: The workshop is open to everyone, but limited to a maximum of 30 participants.
Registration and a draft programme will soon be available on the ESRF web site.
Financing: The workshop is free of charge and will be financed from the VEDAC networking activity of the FP7-ELISA project. Participants from partner laboratories can cover their travel and subsistence expenses from the VEDAC budget allocation of their laboratory. Non VEDAC participants will have to cover their travel and subsistence expenses themselves.
HDF5 User BOFS @ SC09
November 14 - 20, 2009
There will be two Birds-of-a-Feather (BOF) sessions for HDF5 users at the upcoming SC09 conference in Portland Oregon from November 14th through 20th. The first BOF, led by Geospiza, will discuss the BioHDF project. The second BOF, led by The HDF Group, will discuss HDF5 and gather input for future directions.
The 13th HDF and HDF-EOS Workshop took place in Riverdale, Maryland on November 3-5, 2009. For information on this workshop and previous HDF and HDF-EOS Workshops, please see HDF/HDF-EOS Workshops on the HDF-EOS Tools and Information Center page.
